Why was this project created?

The game Oregon Trail is a legend in the gaming industry, successfully combining education with entertainment. While there are many websites where you can play Oregon Trail, these sites often include other games that can be distracting for visitors. That's why this website was created, focusing solely on one game - Oregon Trail and its spin-offs.

Can I use this website to teach my students about history?

Absolutely, that's its primary purpose: to make learning American history enjoyable.

Can I share this website with others, such as fellow teachers and students?

Yes, I would be happy if this website reaches as many people as possible. Thank you :)

Can I create videos of gameplay on this website or use some of the images from this website for my own work?

Certainly, you can use the website as you see fit, I have no problem with that.

Who is the author of the games on this website?

The game Oregon Trail was created by American programmer and designer Don Rawitsch. Together with two other teachers, Bill Heinemann and Paul Dillenberger, they developed this educational game for their students in 1971. The game was later revised and commercially released by MECC (Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium) in 1974. The game quickly gained popularity and became a classic in the field of educational games.

Yes, the games on this website are considered abandonware and are available to anyone. I've transformed these games into an "online" format, making them playable online.
