Oregon Trail was played by a lot of American people born in the eighties and the game stay into memory as one hard, unforgiving and unbeatable game. Some family would eventually play the game together and children in school would even make competition over who got the farthest before dying in the game!

If I had to make a list of ten formative experiences of being a grade-school aged kid in the late 1980s in the US, playing Oregon Trail (probably on an Apple IIe in the school library) as one of the first, if not the first, experiences, ever, with a computer would be on that list.

And Number Munchers, another very important MECC game.
